Security First Federal Credit Union is the largest homegrown credit union in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, serving over 43,000 members with more than $375 million in assets. Founded in 1947 as Hidalgo Federal Credit Union, it was renamed Security First Credit Union in 2000 and operates multiple branches across Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy counties. Membership Restrictions

Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, or Willacy counties in the Rio Grande Valley. Immediate relatives of current members��including children, grandchildren, grandparents, household members, parents, siblings, and spouses��are also eligible to join. Once a member, individuals retain membership for life even if they move outside the Rio Grande Valley. A minimum initial deposit of $5.00 is required to open a membership share account.
