Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) is a not-for-profit, member-owned credit union founded in 1938 and headquartered in Bannockburn, Illinois, serving the Chicagoland region and beyond. With over 80,000 members and approximately $1.3 billion in assets, GLCU operates 13 branch locations across northern Illinois and Wisconsin. The institution is federally insured by the NCUA and offers a full range of banking services including checking, savings, mortgages, and auto loans.

Membership Restrictions

Membership is open to anyone living or working in Cook County (west of Route 83), DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, or Will counties in Illinois, as well as Kenosha County in Wisconsin. Additionally, federal government employees (including active and retired military), employees of specific employers (One Summer Chicago, Ball Horticultural, Bremen School District 228, Morton College), and members of certain labor unions (Teamster Local 705, Lake County Federation of Teachers Local 504, BAC Administrative District Council 1) are eligible. GLCU also offers an "easy membership" option for anyone not fitting the above categories by selecting "Not listed �� let us help" on the membership application. A $5 minimum deposit in a Share Savings account establishes membership.
