Velocity Credit Union is a federally chartered credit union based in Austin, Texas, serving the greater Austin metropolitan area and surrounding five-county region. Originally chartered in 1947 as Austin Municipal Federal Credit Union, it is now one of the largest credit unions in Texas with over $1 billion in assets and more than 88,000 members. The institution offers full-service banking including checking, savings, loans, and credit cards.

Membership Restrictions

Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, or plays in the five-county Austin area. Employees and volunteers of over 200 sponsoring employers and organizations (including City of Austin, Austin Police Department, and others) are automatically eligible. Family members of eligible members may also join. Additionally, anyone can join by making a one-time $10 donation to the Paramount Theater Association, which Velocity handles during account opening.
