NASA Federal Credit Union is a federally insured credit union founded in 1949 and headquartered in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, serving over 200,000 members nationwide. With more than $5 billion in assets, it offers banking, lending, and mortgage services to a broad membership base. The credit union was originally established by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) employees and has expanded significantly through mergers and partnerships.

Membership Restrictions

Membership is open to NASA employees and retirees (at NASA Headquarters, any NASA Center or Facility, or the National Academy of Sciences). Employees or members of approximately 900 NASA Federal Credit Union partner companies and associations are also eligible. Relatives or household members of current members may join. For those who do not fall into these categories, NASA Federal provides a complimentary one-year affiliated membership to the National Space Society (NSS), which grants full credit union membership benefits. Anyone can open an account with a minimum deposit (as low as $5 for a savings account) to become a member.
